The course uses an out-back format from Ithaca to Ulysses and back along the Cayuga Waterfront and Black Diamond Trails. Starting from the Rink at Cass Park, it will follow, in a clockwise direction, the Waterfront Trail along the Cayuga Inlet, pass beneath Rt 89, merge with and run north on the Black Diamond Trail to a point just south of Houghton Rd. Runners will turn around and head back the way they came, finishing on the Waterfront Trail next to the Rink.
The waterfront trail surface is paved, and the Black Diamond Trail packed cinder. It's flat for the first two miles, then climbs gradually to the turnaround point shy of Houghton Rd. Hopefully you'll more than make up for the gradual ascent as you'll have miles of shaded fast runable downhill on the return. It'll hopefully be a pretty fast course, good for both first-timers and those looking for a near-PR time.
Aid stations will have water and tailwind, and some gels at the turnaround. Aid stations are spaced at approximately 2.5, 5, 6.5, 8, and 10.5 miles.
